Sin.

I think some of us are confused. I’d like to share two verses before I start my blog:

1) “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, TO HIM IT IS SIN.” James 4:17 (KJV) <emphasis mine>

2) “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 (KJV)

Most of you are wondering why I am quoting the King James Version of the bible since I typically use a newer version. Well, I am reaching out to the conservative and fundamentalist Christians. You see, in their minds, the King James Version is the “right” bible. It’s the only version they carry. It’s the only version their preachers preach from. It’s the only version that makes them righteous.

I am focusing on this group because they continue to stir the pot in my city. They’ve doubled down. They want to make sure we all realize they are right.

Unfortunately, they, like me, attacked a specific people group. I’m wondering how it makes them feel to be singled out. The difference is I’m not naming names or “sins.”

So, here is what I’m thinking. Maybe they don’t know the King James Version clarifies that “sin” is determined individually and we all do it.

If we want to throw a particular people group under the bus, we need to toss out liars, adulterers, gluttons, trouble makers, gossipers, the prideful, fornicators, etc., etc., etc. You know what? It’s going to get really crowded under the self-righteous bus. Plus, no one gets to ride on the bus because we are all sinners. The King James version says so.

Crazy.

I sure hope all news is fake news. If even 30 minutes of some news is real news, we are crazy.  I lived through the 1960’s, the Civil Rights movement, the Vietnam era, college protests, the feminist movement, Nixon’s resignation, gas going from 21.9 to over $4.00, and so on. It’s never been this crazy.  Political campaigns have always been hateful, but not brutal.  Political leaders have always argued, but the attacks going on these days are immature and useless.   Monkeys are minding our store.  Our only hope is Jesus.  Until every Christian in America gets down on their knees and stops praying to get their way, we remain outside of God’s will.   Praying for a certain leader to win or a certain philosophy to rule isn’t praying in Jesus’ name. It’s praying in our own name or the name of someone else.  Until we unify as brothers and sisters who pray for God’s will and only God’s will, the monkeys will continue to run amuck....

Death.

“ For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” A few years ago, a friend of mine tried to convince me to go Keto. Truthfully, I’m not interested. While Keto works for some, the amount of protein consumed is risky. If a doctor tells me to go Keto, I’ll go Keto. The way I am eating is difficult with slow weight loss results, but I am eating “clean.” (Or at least trying to eat clean.) When I wasn’t convinced Keto was for me, my friend (and this is a true story) said, “Roni, that makes me so sad. With your family’s history of cancer, I am afraid for you.” I asked her, “Why? Because I’ll die?” She responded, “Yes. It hurts my heart that you’re willing to die.” Let me set the record straight. Parading.

“ Whoever wants to be first among you must become your servant.” Matthew 20:27 I never cease to be amazed. I am about 10 years behind our fearless leader. I was also about 10 years behind the Vietnam generation, the civil rights movement, and all of the protests in the streets during the 1960’s. Despite the fact we only had three news channels when I was a child, it was obvious the violence in those protests were triggered more by law enforcement personnel than the actual protesters. I find it interesting that a generation that was plagued by protests in their younger years wants to sit back and criticize, attack, and try to neutralize today’s right to protest. Hypocrisy at its finest. The same is true when a demand is issued for a military parade honoring a branch of the military by a person who never served in any branch of our armed services.
